JEEP APPAREL SUPPORTS MALAYSIAN NATURE SOCIETY
Jeep Apparel Ends its WED Charity Drive with Cheque Presentation to Malaysian Nature Society
Kuala Lumpur, Thursday, January 31, 2013 – Jeep Apparel, an international casual wear brand, is proud to take on an active role in preserving the environment by presenting a cheque amounting to RM15, 000 to support the continuous effort of Malaysian Nature Society (MNS) in the preservation and conservation of the environment. The presentation ceremony held at Jordone Group Head Office was witnessed by senior management teams of both Jordone Group and Malaysian Nature Society (MNS).
According to the Chief Operating Officer of Jordone Corporation Sendirian Berhad, Eric Loke, the impact of global warming and climate change are affecting society as a whole. Business communities of all industries should work together to preserve the environment.
“We all need to contribute in preserving the environment to ensure a better future for our next generation. As a good corporate citizen, we are proud to donate partial sales revenue generated from our previous campaign to Malaysian Nature Society (MNS) to support their efforts and active role in the appreciation and conservation of our natural heritage for over half a century,” Loke said.
“As a responsible corporate citizen, we need to work together to preserve the environment for our future generation. As such, Jordone Corporation is proud to be channelling part of our sales revenue generated from this campaign to MNS to support their efforts in the conservation of our natural heritage”, Loke said.
The proceeds were collected through Jeep’s World Environment Day Charity Drive, which was conducted from July to October last year. The drive was intended to increase awareness and encourage its customers to go green by adopting and practicing an environmental friendly lifestyle. In conjunction with the campaign, Jeep Apparel also showcased their new collections, inspired by the Jeep Willys vintage and Love the Earth themes. One of the key activities for the Jeep World Environment Day Charity Drive was a series of road shows themed “Live Without Limits Tour 2012”.
The proceeds will be channelled into the MNS GREEN aid fund which in turn will be used to raise awareness and secure the conservation of environmentally sensitive areas, key habitats and species in Malaysia. One of MNS’ key initiatives is the on-going campaign and lobbying to protect our rainforest, which happens to be the oldest in the world!
The Belum-Temengor Forest Complex (BTFC) is said to be more than 130 million years old, older even than the Amazon Forest or the Congo Basins. For a forest which has withstood the test of time, the biodiversity of this forest is unique and none like any other. Home to our iconic animals including our tigers, elephants, rhinoceroses and the iconic Malayan Tapirs, there is an urgent need to conserve this priceless natural heritage before we lose it altogether to indiscriminate logging and illegal wildlife trade.
The objective of this current campaign is to advocate for protection of the Temengor Forest Reserve, in order to preserve the integrity of the Belum-Temengor Forest Complex as an intact forest landscape as well as to increase enforcement on wildlife hunting and trade.
